Welcome to the Marché aux Puces du Canal — Lyon’s flea market.

You will find the best vintage gifts possible and an insolite place for Christmas shopping !⋆꙳•❅🎄❆•꙳⋆

What is the Marché aux Puces du Canal?

It’s one of the biggest and most beloved flea markets in the Lyon area—an energetic mix of antique dealers, second-hand sellers, vintage shops, food stands, and insolite curiosities. Think of it as a treasure hunt where every corner has something surprising.

The Marché du Canal stretches along the old warehouses like a living attic of France. You wander through decades: a 1950s lamp, a dusty accordion, the perfect chair needing a little renovation.

I’ve learned one rule here: never say you’re looking for something specific. The market decides what you find.

Where is it?

It’s located in Villeurbanne, right next to Lyon, and easily reachable by bus, tram, or a cheap taxi ride. Many tourists combine it with a half-day exploring the Croix-Rousse or the Rhône riverbanks.

🎄🛍️What can you find there? 🎁🎄🎁

So much variety! For example

  • Beautiful antique furniture,
  • Vintage décor, enamel signs, mirrors, ceramics,
  • Old books, vinyl records, postcards,
  • Fashion stalls with retro clothing, accessories, and curiosities,
  • Random delightful oddities—old cameras, quirky toys, 20th-century design pieces.

Some parts feel like a classic flea market; others are more like mini antique galleries.

Tips for English-speaking visitors

  • Not all vendors take cards – no worries though, there is an ATM machine!
  • Haggling is okay—do it politely and with a smile – an accent is a lovely touch 😀
  • Arrive early for the best finds.
  • Wear comfy shoes; you’ll walk a lot!
  • Ask vendors questions—many speak at least a little English and are very friendly.

If you’re craving one last unusual adventure before leaving Lyon, the Marché aux Puces du Canal in Villeurbanne is the perfect final stop. It’s a joyful maze of antiques, oddities, vintage treasures, and unexpected stories waiting to be uncovered.
