A New Year, a Thank You, and Stories to Come

As we begin a new year, I would like to take a moment to welcome you and thank you for being here ✨ my couple of followers!

This blog was launched in December as a natural extension of Insolite Tours, a very small business in the making dedicated to offering a different way of discovering France. It is designed for travelers who value thoughtful exploration, cultural depth, and meaningful experiences — particularly within the diverse and often underestimated region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AURA).

About Insolite Tours

Insolite Tours is rooted in a long-standing personal connection to the region. I have lived in Lyon and Isère for over 30 years, building a life here, raising a family, and experiencing the rhythms of local life well beyond the perspective of a visitor. 

Behind Insolite Tours is travel designed to be unhurried, meaningful, and locally grounded. I take the opportunity to share the landscapes, the food, culture and the history that have been part of my everyday life since moving here in 1994.

What You Can Expect in 2026

Follow me through the seasonal rhythm of Auvergne–Rhône–Alpes;

across the region’s 12 departments, from well-known highlights to quieter corners, the insolite, the unique, hidden and beautiful; including villages, natural landscapes, and cultural places that reveal the region’s beauty. I look forward to sharing stories and explanations of French traditions and regional custom and ideas for meaningful experiences focused on slow travel, culture, and nature.
